Where's Jerry When You Need'm
One of New Hampshire’s most incompetent selectmen, Jerry Needham of Windsor, has left the building.
By building I mean the 40’ x40’ Windsor Town Hall where even the Boston Globe reporter who did a front page news story back on March 28 of this year had to stand because there was not room enough for citizens to sit down at a selectmen’s meeting.
Funny the small town hall doesn’t have room for townspeople to watch the selectmen in action – they don’t keep any records of what they do or who pays taxes. That should free up enough room for at least two folding chairs.
News flash to Jerry: You will not be missed.
Here is why: That bantam weight rooster lawyer Needham hired from the Hatfield firm has been running the town since the taxpayers group beat him and you in Superior Court under The Right to Know Law.
So now its time to fill the empty selectman’s seat from among the short list of citizens the remaining Windsor Selectmen trust to keep up their agenda of municipal nincompoopery.
Send in the clowns.

Taking on NH municipal crooks is not a job for those with queezy stomachs.
You soon find out what lengths the officials in Concord will go to in an effort to protect them.
Human nature is certainly on display in our municipal democracies - greed rules the day if you don't have enough votes to stop the libs from picking their neighbor's pockets.
Hang in there.
You don't always get a scalp from this type of hunting party but being half scalped isn't much fun either.
And remember! You can always drop the fight - they can't. So as long as you do not give up they do not win.
I see the selecten in Windsor have simply abbated the taxes their pals did not have to pay - kind of like you giving their car to one of your friends, only with approval from the NH Dept. of Revenue and Attorney General, (come see me when she runs for guv.)
The auditing firm, Melanson, is dug in rather deep in Windsor at the moment and there are some of us across the state watching them - I sent them an email to that effect, let's see what they dig up.
You must think you are a pretty important person that half the town of Windsor showed up at the town meeting just to make sure you weren't elected as a selectman. It's not as if there weren't many other issues at hand at that meeting important to many people. Oh and don't forget those record numbers didn't elect you to the school board either. Maybe when the selectmen were making their choice for Mr. Needham's replacement they decided not to go against two-thirds of the townspeople's wishes. Or should they have gone with the candidate with a measly 23 votes?
I will not argue that the tax issues in the town should be addressed however that isn't the only job of the selectmen, they have many. The "good ole' boy" and "village idiot" to whom you have so kindly referred to has made actual, visible improvements in town. As an ordinary Windsor citizen he organized the selectman, town road maintainer, state representative and state DOT to make badly needed road repairs to the main road into Windsor. And it got done. If he can do this as just a citizen, imagine the changes and improvements he can make as a selectman.
I've been to the selectman's meetings Lisa, and I've heard what you have to contribute, and I could state many things here to show those reading this what kind of differences you would make. However I'm not going to slam you publicly or try to embarrass you, I know you can do a bang up job of that yourself.
So I leave you with this Lisa - what have you done for the town lately?
Wow, this sounds so much like what Rosie McNamara wrote about Ashland in the Town Report before she was arrested for missappropriating $2.4 million.
It is the same story:
Wonderful people trying to do a good job for the people but hindered by a group of ill tempered malcontents with an agenda or in my case "axe to grind".
Just as in my town, Deering, everyone loved the locals who put their hearts and souls into erasing everything on the computer and rigging the books for our town meetings.
Nothing like mob rule - when you are winning.
Another thing I noticed about town officials who steal, cheat, and lie - they always have a medical condition when the get caught.
Ever notice that?
Rosie was bi-polar, the Amherst clerk was exhausted from caring for a sick relative, the Carrol town clerk was sick, the Keene school treasurer had problems, the list goes on and on.
Another similarity: arrogance.
Be glad the DRA is helping you guys out for now and hope that the auditing firm will as well. If not I see a lot of upset tummies in Windsor.
Be glad the DRA is helping??? You can't possibly be serious....please.... The only thing this renegade few (Demers, Chamberlain and Palmer) are accomplishing is costing the taxpayers big money in legal/accounting fees. Along with the DRA, this little coalition is probably going to cost the town approximately $75-100K. All of this to identify what will most likely be under $10K in unaccounted/misapplied funds.
Nevermind the countless hours the town officers are spending trying to keep up with their endless requests for information. It is their fight that will end up costing the taxpayers 10 times more than it should have to clean up the books. Sometimes you just have to let go and move on.
You mention bi-polar. Did you mean to say Lisa Demers instead of Rosie. If so, I think you hit it right on. No wonder why her biography/life resume she put in the paper while running for selectmen spoke loudly. Why is it she moves from place to place so often? Is it because she wears out her welcome.....hmmm.
Back to the 'Good Ole Boys' for a minute. So you're in Deering & I hear Lisa is the Assessing Clerk for Deering. Makes one wonder what benefits you're reaping from this relationship. Is this the making of a new scandal for Deering? It would be novel to have Windsor off the front pages for a little while.
Congratulations to Ronnie Houghton on his appointment. And a hearty "thank you" for all his efforts on the road repairs. I reckon that'll save the locals between $25k & $50k on auto repairs alone, not to mention the savings in chiropractic bills! Might even help the sale of some homes up that way. Hoorah Ronnie!
Frivolous lawsuits serve another purpose—they are meant to intimidate. A raw threat from a CNHT affiliate has to be taken seriously. Anyone running for public office knows what this feels like—in addition to all the other personal sacrifices demanded by public service—the aspiring elected official has to live with the threat of a lawsuit. This makes good people think twice about public office.
I got a minor taste of this recently. My organization, Democracy for New Hampshire was recently threatened with a lawsuit when we exposed anti tax ugliness in Bedford. The baseless attack came anonymously and arrived in the personal e-mail of our vice-chairman Nancy Tobi.
These things are going on every day of the week in many NH communities—multiply these stories by a factor of 1000 and you can grasp the ugly underbelly of New Hampshire's Anti-tax pledge culture.
The CNHT will never own up to this scenario because it would destroy the entire organizations credibility.
You can help put an end to this-- if you or your town has been bullied please e-mail me or post a comment.
Stay tuned.

Your Windsor pals who run the town posted the Treasurer's Report on page 19 of the 2007 Windsor Town Report as:
"NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME"
And taxpayers - as opposed to some in your town, asked for the report for several months to no avail.
I wrote the 91-A case for them and we won (very similar to Ashland, ask former Selectman Tom Peters). The judge awarded the Windsor taxpayers court costs IN THE COUTROOM! (That is as rare as hen's teeth, and when we have to go back again after the "audit" she may not be so kind to the selectmen.)
Suddenly, over $150,000.00 in back taxes shows up at the Town office?????
No wonder you guys are so uptight.
The DRA, we also found out, had been urging your incompetent selectboard and tax collector (where is she by the way, Florida yet?) to get their act together for eight years.
And now, just a few weeks ago, the morons who run the town ABATED $21,000 of back taxes they can not account for? ( I have the copies.)
News flash! When you abate taxes the Town has to pay interest on what you are abating. They assume you PAID taxes. The legislature probably didn't dream that the tax collector in Windsor and her selectmen accomplices would simply not collect from friends and family.
Keep up the good work Windsor majority. You created a wonderful town and many fine memories.
You appear to be crooks with a majority vote at a Town Meeting - naturally you would gravitate to Democracy For NH.
Without towns and people like you CNHT would be a very boring group.
Its always nice to see an outsider looking out for the best interest of others.
I do appreciate the 91-A and the $150K that came pouring in as a result. One thing you keep avoiding is the fact that this group is going to cost us "Windsor Public Servants" more $$ than its worth in the end.
I agree with Windsor Watchful Eyes, your statement about Rosie must have been meant for Lisa Demers. Finally we can understand why she acts like she does.
I love your comment about going back to court after the Audit. Proves true that no matter what the town does, this elite group will continue to push in an effort to cost the many hardworking taxpayers more money.
I dont disagree there is some in town who could fit the bill of "town idiot", "clown" and so on. Look hard in every town and there is many. I can think of one in Deering right now, oops did I really write that.
I guess we will sit back and enjoy the ride and hope that our tax rate doesnt skyrocket as a result. I really hope you guys find some big problem in our books that justifies the $100K it may cost us in the end.
If you look at previous years taxes collected, I think that you will notice that the months most taxes are collected are between April and July, which just happened to coincide with when the coalition began it's public trashing of the town. I am certain that some taxes were paid because of the coalition, but they are certainly not to be applauded for it all. I don't believe that 150,000 in back taxes was paid just because the coalition took the officials to court. And the only reason they took the officials to court was so they could slam them publicly. The selectmen had the documents that Mr Everett Chamberlain and his goonies asked for prior to the court hearing, but they would not drop it because they felt a spanking was necessary. Waaaa Waaaa. OKAY!
Working for CNHT doesn't pay well but there are other benefits - if you find satisfaction in helping others with municipal problems.
As for Windsor being "run" as in the traditional sense, I would disagree. I think EXPLOITED is more like it.
Because the Imoral Windsor Majority can not "run" the town, they have after 8 years finally been forced to accept that fact in the form of losing multiple lawsuits, land aquisitions by JJ Valera of the "mystery parcels" they had supposedly "taken for back taxes", an audit by a legit firm that may not want to do any favors, and a proctologist style examination of their various exploits by the news media.
Hang in there, the best may yet come.
"It's to bad that non-resident taxpayers can't have a vote in the matter. Catch you later):):):):):):!!!!!!!
July 15, 2008 | I care about Windsor"
Main Entry: to
Function: preposition
Main Entry: too
Function: adverb
Which word, to or too, did you mean? I'm guessing you meant to use the word too, which has, as one of its definitions, "to such a degree as to be regrettable".
To such a degree as to be regrettable is how the majority of the residents feel about the coalition's existence at this point. Regrettable, too, are the continuous slams against the puble officials of Windsor. You should all be ashamed of yourselves, because the rest of us are. Get a life people!
Another clarification:
"It's too bad that John Kablik is too scared to sign his name to the article he wrote....but we know you!!!!!
July 15, 2008 | Windsor?"
Which article did John Kablik write? And if he didn't sign it, how do you know he wrote it? John seems to me to be a pretty vocal guy as we notice almost weekly at the Selectmen's meeting. Do you really think he needs to post something anonymously, as you obviously do ... or is "WINDSOR?" your real name?
Proudly signed,
Lori Gezelman aka John Kablik's wife
See how easy it is to get all worked up about something OTHER than at least 8 years (all records lost before that time) of selective collection of property taxes.
The more you discuss what really did happen - and what IS happening in Windsor, the farther you get from the issue at hand.
The main goal here in town should be helping the town pull together as a community as it once was. That truly is what brought Lori and I to this beautiful town.
It appears as though there may be some prior tax collection mishaps. It is time to clean up what we can quickly and move on.
PS> I am not scared. If you knew me at all you would know that I have no problem telling someone how I feel. I wish I could take claim to a few things that were said though. It made for interesting readings. I love fictions.
See you at the next meeting.
