NetRight Daily: Health Care and more on Comrade Graham

Do Bluedogs Believe ObamaCare Fairy Tales?:  Members of the House could vote as early as this weekend on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's 1,900-plus page proposal to create a government-run health care system in America.

More on the Comrade Lindsey Graham Ad Buyers:  We've done two in-depth stories now on the ultra-liberal special interests behind the recent barrage of "conservative" pro-Lindsey Graham ads in South Carolina.

A True Stimulus:  The recent history of stimulus programs suggests that at least two ideas thought at first to be surefire winners left a lot to be desired once the results came in.

Journalism and the Left:  There has always been concern among fiscal conservatives that their common sense approach to government expenditures never receives a fair representation in the mainstream media.  Even when their ideas are enacted and prove to be very successful, they are derided by the news media.  The policies enacted by the Reagan Administration produced a decade of economic growth and ended many years of uncontrolled inflation, yet those policies were labeled as "trickle down economics" by the left and the news media.

NetRight Daily: The White House Wages an Unworthy Media War

Medicaid vs. Education:  A little-noticed aspect of Washington's health care reform is the impact it will have on state spending. In this era where states find themselves behind the budgetary 8-ball because revenues constantly fall short of expectations, governors worry that assuming their share of the cost for an expanded Medicaid program could force them to make unpopular cuts elsewhere or send their treasuries spiraling toward bankruptcy.

The White House Wages an Unworthy Media War:  The White House is trying to blockade the largest cable news network. A House candidate called the police when a reporter asked her about abortion. Congressional leaders turn to angry media critics as they talk about why support for health care legislation remains tepid.  (H/T Washington Examiner)

"Choice for All":  Earlier this week, U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle attended parent-teacher conferences at Sidwell Friends School, the private academy in Washington D.C. that they chose for their two daughters to attend.

Where are the Defenders of Capitalism?:  When the "New Deal" is taught in public schools around the nation, students are told that Franklin D. Roosevelt's big government programs were there to "save capitalism." And when George W. Bush pushed for bailouts and stimuli at the end of his term, he stated, "I've abandoned free-market principles to save the free-market system."

CHQ - Tea Partiers Take Aim at Major Media Outlets

Tea Partiers Ask Big Media: "Can You Hear Us Now?"
FOX News
- Tea Partiers across the nation protested Big Media this past weekend, targeting those in the mainstream press who have tried to drown out conservative, limited government voices. "American citizens outraged by President Obama and the actions of Congress have set their sights on a new target -- the so-called mainstream media -- with tea-party protests now set to boil in front of more than 30 press offices across the U.S.," states a press release from FaxDC, the group organizing the protests. Targets included The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, NBC, ABC, CBS and others. [find this article at News From the Front]

Bloggers Mugged by Regulators
Wall Street Journal - "There's a saying that a neoconservative is a liberal who has been mugged by reality," writes Gordon Crovitz at the Wall Street Journal. "We've now learned that bloggers mugged by regulators become economic libertarians."  Bloggers, welcome to the Nanny State.

Conservative blacks victims of liberal intolerance?
Examiner.com  - Black conservatives often face criticism from liberals, and even those of their own race, simply for their political viewpoints.  In this piece from the Maricopa County Conservative Examiner, writer William Busse examines liberal hostility aimed at black conservatives.

Manuse.com: "Putting Pressure on the Press"

MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Thousands of people gathered in up to 100 cities nationwide on Saturday, Oct. 17, to protest media bias that favors the progressive Obama government, omits facts about government corruption, and lies about those trying to call them on it. Protesters noted that it is time for the media to put the interests of American citizens and the principles embodied in the U.S. Constitution first, and do their job to report the facts about what government is doing and what it plans to do.

Saturday's event, Operation: Can You Hear Us Now?, was organized by citizens who went to Washington, D.C., on Sept. 12 to protest the unconstitutional direction of the U.S. government and were later upset by the general lack of media coverage of the event, which drew anywhere from 1.2 million to 1.8 million people. Fox News was the only news network to fully and accurately cover the 9-12 event, while most other networks that gave any mention of the peaceful gathering grossly misinterpreted and/or misrepresented the intentions of protesters....

Project Censored 2010

Project Censored and Media Freedom Foundation need your continuing support to document important news stories from independent media ignored by the mainstream corporate media in the US.

Because of Project Censored’s work millions of people are aware of the massive death rates of civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan (Story #1, 2009) and the continuing undermining of American civil liberties (Story #1, 2008). You will soon see the emerging stories for the Censored 2010 yearbook. The list includes how $3.2 billion was spent on lobbying Congress in 2008, and how the Obama administration, despite contrary campaign promises, is continuing much of the same global military agenda we saw the last eight years.

Eight years ago the Project Censored team formed the Media Freedom Foundation (MFF) to serve as a 501-c-3 non-profit corporation for the perpetuation of Project Censored’s work. The Board of Directors of Media Freedom Foundation recently held a quarterly board meeting and set out plans to continue to prioritize fund raising for Project Censored at Sonoma State University, and to also support the creation of Media Freedom International with affiliate Colleges/Universities all over the world modeled after Project Censored.

We will soon be launching the new Media Freedom International (MFI) website http://www.mediafreedominternational.org/ that will feature daily news validated by college/university research teams. You may already be aware of our daily Validated Independents News (VIN) feeds on our website from nineteen trustworthy news sources http://mediafreedom.pnn.com/5174-independent-news-sources. Or just click on the PNN button, which can also be accessed from the PC homepage http://projectcensored.org to see daily VIN news.

We are already producing a weekly VIN radio news program airing on the Flashpoints program on KPFA and numerous other stations every Friday at 5:00 P.M. PST.

We would like to personally ask each one of you to consider making a special gift of support. Our collective efforts require us to raise $50,000 per year through donor appeals, and special fund raising events. Your continuing support is needed to make our 34th year a success and continue this work for freedom of information.

We now have over $7000 received towards our $25,000 summer fund drive goal . You can donate and watch our progress towards that goal on-line at http://projectcensored.org. If we are able to raise $25,000 twice a year from you, our supporters, with our other resources—book royalties, special events, speaking fees, direct Censored yearbook sales, web advertising & sales, instructional related activities fees, and the occasional foundation grant—we will be able to sustain and expand our work for years to come.

Please consider making a special gift to support this important work in difficult times. Any amount is perfectly fine. Our average donation is $30. But for this special fund drive anyone gifting $100 or more, will receive an autographed copy of Censored 2010 by the end of the summer signed to you by the editors, Mickey Huff and myself. A free media with open public information brings back the old saying of the 1960s—Power to the People. We know you agree.

Sincerely,

Peter Phillips and Project Censored 2009
