WHOA! WAIT A MINUTE!

This can't be from the NH Liberty Alliance. Slander!

(If the NHLA posted the first graphic on its website, half the organization's members would rescind their memberships).

Trust me, this is BS. Please cite the source!

I went to the website, but have no idea who these folks are. I do know they are not the NHLA. Their website is nhliberty.org

Okay, real quick...

Here is why the two graphic arguments are not libertarian arguments.

(1) Some libertarians like gays, and some find homosexuality abhorrent. But no libertarian thinks a 51% majority has any right to tell a 49% minority what marriage is or isn't. Whether we like it or not, the private behavior of consenting adults is none of our business.

The conflict over marriage is unnecessary. It only exists because government has made the mistake of attaching various entitlements and benefits to marriage. Most libertarians think adults should be free to enter the contracts of their choosing with other consenting adults. This includes marriage. And despite objections to special marriage entitlements, most libertarians are okay with civil unions as a measure which ends discrimination against some couples who consider themselves to be married.

(2) The NHLA certainly criticized the balloon bill, but libertarians wouldn't be likely to frame the argument by saying citizens need "help with ballooning health care costs." Instead we would be more likely to address the reasons why health care is so expensive, most of which can be traced back to unnecessary and counterproductive government interventions into the marketplace.

P.S. I am a member of the NHLA, but I don't speak for the org. I am not on the board...

I am also a member of the NHLA and I find the title of this post very misleading. Just because this website links to the NHLA website does NOT mean that it is officially affiliated with the NHLA. I am not on the Board of the NHLA, but I highly doubt this is a product of that organization.

I request that someone edit this post for accuracy of content.

This is clearly a joke.

Libertarians LOVE gay marriage and undermining marriage is of little concern to them. Many libers in the GOP voted for gay marriage/unions.

They also don't give a damn that our elected representatives are not focused enough on ballooning health care costs. "Let the old and sick people die" is their attitude (if it's not in their platform, it's perhaps an unwriten policy.)

Although the graphics are clever, they would make a far better ad for the GOP, which really is fighting for the family and for market-driven healthcare solutions, not fighting with the Democrats to undermine and overthrow societal structures that have been in place for generations.

You seem to have confused libertarians with liberals. It's the liberals who are ballooning health care costs and want old and sick people to die.

The site is accurate and funny but it is in no way related to the NHLA website. The NHLA did not take a stand on that bill anyway. By the way, that bill was about money, not about gay marriage.

I don't know how anyone could mix that site up with NHLA which is nhliberty.org and doesn't ever put out anything controversial.

And the Republicans were the ones who put up the baloon bill.

Andy, the Republicans did not put up the balloon bill, a RINO liberal Republican from Windham did it. The Democrats all voted for that stupid bill!

I originally made a comment. Retracting it and walkin' away.

But does anyone know who Stephen Patton is?

Dave:

I know Steve. And I love his stuff! I hope to have it linked with our CNHT site so more people can see it.

Steve isn't part of the Liberty Alliance at all.

Oooop's

I forgot to mention. Steve is part of the new group of conservative activists I have been running into around the state lately - web savvy professionals but NOT Free Staters.

One group is starting a regional type taxpayer organization on their own based on their web site and blog.

And others have asked CNHT to come meet several towns at once to start getting active in a more organized fashion.

Keeping up with it will be a challenge.

So I would encourage our new Democrat leaders to just nevermind and keep passing Massachusetts style government.

The balloon bill didn't pass - and the people of this state are tired of the same old GOP homophobic ranting.

As for libertarians - they're Republicans who grew up with all of the advantages of a civil society (public schools, roads, highways, libraries) and would now deny them to everyone else.
